The Details
MOWER MAYHEM IS BACK (yes, already)
Saturday 11th April 2026 | Hennock Hideaways
First race of the season and we’re straight back into it.
New year, same mowers, some familiar and some new challengers, same chaos, slightly louder shouting.
Full afternoon of racing, breakdowns, questionable overtaking, and at least one person wondering why they agreed to this.
What’s going on then?
Mower racing
Fast(ish). Competitive(ish). Held together with hope.
Food & drink
JJ Meats on the grill, hot drinks flowing, bar open for all the important post race analysis.
Kids stuff
Play area is open.
No bouncy castle this year… we’re building resilience.
🐾 Dogs welcome
Bring them along. They’ll behave better than most of the drivers.
⛺ Marquee up for shelter
We’ve even put a marquee up this time…
not that it’ll rain again obviously.
(it definitely won’t rain…)
How the racing actually starts (behind the scenes chaos):
Drivers spend the morning going through adjudication, qualifying, and last minute “adjustments”
(which usually means fixing something that definitely should’ve been fixed last week).
There’s a lot of poking, prodding, revving, and confident claims of
“yeah that’ll be fine”.
Then once the gates open to spectators…
we’ll aim to get going with our first race – Group C.
We say aim… but you know how this goes.
How the racing works (loosely… very loosely):
After qualifying, drivers are placed into:
Group A Fastest Qulaifying
Group B
Group C
Based on skill, luck, or whether their mower survives the morning.
Then we get into the tournament races:
Group C kicks things off
Then Group B
Then Group A where things get slightly more serious
Each group has 3 races across the day, all scoring points.
And this year it actually means something…
All results go towards an annual championship, so there’s proper bragging rights on the line all season.
Then it gets a bit unhinged:
Once the organised part is done, we move onto whatever is still working:
Team relays (organised chaos)
Whacky race (no one really knows what’s going on)
And if anything survives…
Le Mans style start sprint all mowers in.
What to bring:
A chair (don’t be the one standing all afternoon) picnic benches are limited.
A sense of humour
Loud cheering and mild heckling encouraged
Realistic expectations… this is mower racing, not Silverstone
The important bits:
Entry is cheap (less than a round at the bar)
Parking on site, just follow signs and don’t overthink it
Come for a couple of hours or stay for the lot
⚠️ The boring but necessary bit:
It’s motorsport. Things move. Sometimes unexpectedly.
You attend at your own risk.
Keep an eye on kids, dogs, and your mates.
Vehicles and belongings are your responsibility.
If you trip over, fall in a hole, or get emotionally invested in a mower that breaks down… that’s on you.
