Fancy racing?
If you’ve got a mower, or can rescue one, and a slight disregard for dignity, you’re halfway there.
You’ll need a basic ride on mower, the required safety equipment and a machine that meets our build regulations. No tractors or quads. BLMRA specification mowers do not fit our rules.

Entry is approximately £15 per mower per event, with more than one driver welcome at no extra charge. Confirmed entry details will accompany each event.
Race schedules, trophies, a first aid responder and the drivers’ WhatsApp group are all part of it. The mechanical excuses are your department.

Come for the racing. Stay for the running commentary from people who are absolutely certain their mower would have won if the belt hadn’t come off.
How this got out of hand
A YouTube binge, a Devon field and twelve brave mowers. That was September 2024.
By April 2026 we had 40 racers and a crowd of 500. Apparently, watching people race lawnmowers is how quite a lot of us want to spend a Saturday.
My son and his mates have always rescued machinery that sensible people would scrap. Mower Mayhem is built on that spirit: fix it, make it safe and race it.
No big committees or snobby attitude. Just proper grassroots racing, people helping each other in the pits and then desperately trying to beat each other on the track.

We charge a small entry fee to all mowers, £15 to cover costs, hand out actual trophies (yes, real ones, not just a firm handshake), and every event we tweak things based on what we learn, better layouts, better systems and a few more surprises each time.​
How race day works
01 · Scrutineering
9am sharp. Every mower is checked against our build and safety regulations. If it does not meet the rules, it does not race.
02 · Qualifying
Usually two practice laps and one timed lap. Times decide the groups: A is the fastest, with a maximum of 12 racers, B is midfield and C is everyone else.
03 · Racing
Usually 10 laps per race, with three races for each group. C races first, then B, then A. Afterwards, time, weather and track conditions permitting, we run fun races such as Le Mans sprints and team relays.
Points & silverware
Points are awarded down to eighth place. Ninth onwards scores zero. To score, your mower must cross the line, even if you have to push it. A DNF scores zero.
Trophies go to the top three in each group. Only Group A race points count towards the overall championship.
If it crosses the line, it counts. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t.
