Campsite Warden(s) Wanted – Hennock Hideaways for 2026
Tucked away in the beautiful Devon countryside, Hennock Hideaways is a lively, family run camping and glamping site that has grown from a blank field into a much loved little haven over the last 8 years. Built with our own hands and a lot of hard work, the site is truly a labour of love and close to our hearts.
We are a family of eight (plus an assortment of friendly, feathered, furry, and occasionally muddy legged animals) who believe camping should be relaxed, fun, and just a little bit magical. Guests choose their own pitch, soak up the scenery, and enjoy a few home comforts along the way – including a cracking breakfast at the weekend.
We like to keep things lively too, throwing the occasional big weekend of live music or even mower racing (yes, it is a thing, and yes, it is brilliant).
The Role
We are looking for one or two brilliant Campsite Wardens to join us for the busy summer season from the late May bank holiday weekend through to 1 September. This is a hands on role that keeps the site running smoothly – think cooking breakfast baps, turning over our glamping tents, keeping facilities spotless, and chatting with happy campers (and sometimes slightly lost ones).
We have a very friendly but territorial dog on site, so unfortunately, this role is not suitable for applicants with their own dogs.
The perfect candidate will be proactive, friendly, unflappable, and able to laugh along with us when the British weather or a runaway lawnmower throws us a curveball.
What You Will Be Doing
-
Breakfast Hero: Serving up hot baps and excellent coffee in our takeaway stable (Saturday and Sunday, 7.30 to 11.30 am).
-
Glamping Guru: Making sure our two bell tents are spotless and ready for the next guests. These are 2 night stays min.
-
Facilities Fairy: Daily cleaning and checks of the shower and toilet cabins (about 1 hour a day). Wahing up facilities, rubbish collection too on our trusty mule.
-
Site Scout: Keeping an eye out for any maintenance needs and having a friendly chat with campers (about 2 hours a week).
-
Occasional Night Owl: Being available for emergency evening or overnight cover if needed (extra pay, arranged in advance).
The Details
-
Season: Late May Bank Holiday to 1 September (arriving a week earlier for training and settling in is ideal).
-
Pay: £13 per hour, paid weekly.
-
Hours: Approx 18+ per week, with the possibility of more when the site is buzzing.
-
Accommodation: Bring your own caravan, camper, or tent – we will provide a free pitch with free electric hook up.
-
Experience: Housekeeping, grounds maintenance, and customer service experience are essential. Campsite experience is a bonus, but a love of the outdoors and a can do attitude are even better.
-
Dogs: We are unable to accommodate applicants with their own dogs due to our resident dog’s territorial nature.
About You
-
You are proactive, self sufficient, and happy to roll up your sleeves.
-
You have a good sense of humour and do not mind a bit of colourful language, we are county folk after all.
-
You are friendly, approachable, and enjoy chatting with guests from all walks of life.
-
You can juggle a variety of tasks and adapt to whatever the day throws at you (including the odd muddy footprint or a surprise mower race).
-
References are required and will be checked before you join the team.
-
DBS will be required at our cost
-
Basic Hygene Certificate Level 2 at our cost
